In collaboration with Universal Music, Bec travelled to Philly to make a film with the visionary artist Tierra Whack, her team and her friends. For a number of days Tierra took Bec around the old haunts of her hometown, and welcomed Bec into her studio, as she discussed her creative upbringing and why she’s never followed the crowd. “You can’t put me in a box, because then it’s just like, you’re not gonna get anything,” Tierra says in the documentary. “But if you just let me be free and be me, that’s when you get the best shit.” Inspired by specific lyrics from Tierra’s songs Bec created surreal scenes in which to interview the singer and songwriter. Each scene had the intention of playing into the Whack World Tierra has been building since she burst onto the scene. Tierra’s weird and wonderful aesthetic has accompanied each track she released and Bec wanted to honour this and the singer’s unique vision and artistry.
