Writing this article on the mysterious photographer Smiler for Splash and Grab Magazine was a particularly meaningful piece of work because, as revealed in the article, Smiler’s son is one of Bec’s best friends. The bitter sweet feelings that surfaced in the exploration of Smiler’s work and his background made for an exceptionally personal bit of writing for a photography magazine. It was/is through Smiler’s son that Bec was able to understand his work and how his various photographs related to one another and the significance of their impact on the world.
