does that make me a woman?
director, writer
Does that make me a woman? is a 4.5 minute film starring BAFTA winning Mia McKenna-Bruce performing Bec Evans’ poem of the same title. It was released in partnership with the charity Women & Health, on Nowness and via social influencer partners and has racked up nearly a million views across all platforms. Does that make me a woman? was envisioned as a poem, film, online campaign and immersive installation. Bec’s film was displayed, at Protein Studios, alongside responses to the poem, sent in from women all around the world. A programme of talks were curated by Bec featuring Mia McKenna-Bruce, Sistah Space, Maxim Magnus, Mary O’Connell and many more. Channelling femme energy but creating a space open to all, Bec and her team, built off the vulnerability expressed in her poem Does that make me a woman? to create space for others to be open up, be vulnerable, create meaningful connections and raise funds between creative and charitable industries.
